Application Engineer – Engine/Vehicle Mechanics

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for an Application Engineer to join its mechanical applications team.  This team supports customers that model mechanics of engines and engine subsystems, powertrains, vehicles, and general machinery.  This application team also is involved in general multi-body dynamics, vibrations/noise, friction, and tribology modeling.  Engineers in this team regularly interact with engineers from the most technologically advanced companies in the world to assist them in modeling advanced concepts.  More information can be found here:  GT-SUITE Multi-Body Mechanical Modeling.

Position Summary

The Application Engineer partners with GT customers to maximize the usage and value of our software and leverage these customer insights into future product enhancements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to assist them with their applications of GT’s software
  • Incorporate customer insights and feedback into the design and testing of new product features
  • Facilitate customer trainings
  • Lead and contribute to consulting projects
  • Assure quality control of the product
  • Conduct independent research aimed at designing and defining new software features and functionality

Education, Experience and Skills

  • MSME or similar degree preferred; BSME required
  • 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Technical expertise and specialization in any of the following areas, used to support customers and engage prospective customers via pilot projects:
    • Multi-Body Dynamics
    • Flexible Bodies
    • Tribology, Contact Mechanics and Friction Analysis

Desired Skills

  • Experience with the following:
    • 3D MBD software (e.g., MSC ADAMS, SIMPACK)
    • Flexible Bodies, Finite Element methods and tools (e.g Abaqus, Altair, Ansys, Nastran)
    • Specialized Engine Mechanics tools (e.g., AVL, Ricardo, SimDrive 3D)
    • Engine/vehicle simulation software such as GT-SUITE, AMESim or other CAE and simulation tools including Matlab/Simulink
    • Internal combustion engines, including design, measurement and instrumentation, controls, SAE projects (e.g., FormulaSAE, BajaSAE, Future Car, etc.), or automotive rebuilding
