Student Intern – Chemical Systems Development (Hybrid)
Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is offering an Academic Internship for Chemical Systems Developer in solver development team.
This hybrid employment necessitates working two days in the office. (Westmont, IL)
Position Summary
You will join our solver development team which actively develops mathematical models for Multiphysics problems in engine, aftertreatment systems and beyond. Your role will be to assist developers by taking on well-defined programming projects concerning physical modeling, code infrastructure or data and 3D visualization/animation tasks. You will be exposed to the development process in the solver group, and you will have the opportunity to learn how mathematical models are designed and implemented in the software. You should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with outstanding analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you can work effectively with minimal oversight, while also functioning well in a team environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop elements of physical models used to simulate chemical systems
- Perform model optimizations based on CFD or experimental data
- Generate model results and perform analysis on the simulation results in 1D/2D/3D
- Enhance the solver infrastructure to make it more efficient and maintainable
Education, Experience and Skills
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Currently enrolled in a master’s degree program focused in mechanical, chemical, or aerospace engineering
- Desired GPA 3.5
- Interest in flow, thermal, chemical system design, and modeling
- Background in programming languages for scientific computing (FORTRAN, C, C++, python, MATLAB)
- Experience in CFD simulation software (ANSYS, FLUENT, START-CCM, COMSOL)
- Strong interest and background in computational modeling and/or mathematics

Position Summary
We are looking for a creative, focused self-starter to work as a software developer in the area of system-level (complete) vehicle simulations, subsystem model integration and controls systems. You would join our mechanics development team and work in a collaborative development environment, on projects to develop models of complete vehicle systems, suitable for fast-running simulations and system optimization, and also subsystem-level or supervisory controls for such systems. As GT maintains an integrated and multi-physics development approach, you will also collaborate with application engineers on product design, and with developers of other (e.g., thermal, electrical, flow, chemistry) domains on multi-physics solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, test, and maintain models of complete vehicles and also the underlying software architecture allowing seamless integration of vehicle subsystem models, including subsystem and supervisory controls, at varying level of detail.
- Work, within the mature GT-SUITE platform and software architecture, on projects focused on continuous improvement of performance, scalability, user-experience aspects of solutions.
- Test computational models in the context of integrated simulations of real-life systems aimed at addressing customers’ needs at different stages of their product development cycle.
- Collaborate with other developers and application engineers on functional and I/O requirements and design of models. Adaptation of models to user requirements.
Education, Experience and Skills
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, with focus on design or optimization oriented computational modeling of vehicles and/or vehicle (powertrain, thermal management, electrical) subsystems.
- A minimum of 2 years of academic or industry experience (4 years of industry experience for BS candidates) with computational modeling of vehicles, vehicle subsystems and supervisory controls, with focus on drive cycle and/or real driving fuel economy & emissions, subsystem evaluations, model integration, and subsystem or supervisory controls optimizations.
- Experience with engineering programming languages such as Fortran, C, C++.
- Experience or familiarity with the following is highly desirable:
- – Powertrain and controls in conventional and electrified vehicles
- – Control theory, optimal control theory
- – Mathworks/Matlab and Simulink software
- – Commercial/research tools for system-level vehicle simulation

Position Summary
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for growing Gamma’s business through expansion within existing customers as well as new logo acquisition. Create innovative graphical solutions for engineers and transform 3D CAD objects into mathematical engineering models of fluid flow and mechanical components.

We are looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented, and highly motivated software developer to join our co-simulation solutions development team. The applicant will be involved in the development of GT-SUITE, a sophisticated desktop software package for simulating almost any kind of engineering multi-physics system, such as those arising in the automotive, aerospace and other industries, involving fluid, thermal, mechanical, acoustics, electromagnetics, chemistry and controls elements.

Job Responsibilities

Position Summary
In this position you will participate in and contribute to internal engineering methods or software development projects. You will work with members of the team on a focused assignments that will be selected with you based on your background and educational requirements. Additionally you will also support daily tasks of the team. We are looking for a creative, talented and self-starting student intern helping us in the continuous process to improve our software and services.
Your Assignment
- Work on method, model or software development projects
- Support team in testing new software version an components and help with release related activities
- Support the teams daily task by performing (literature) research on methods, technologies, trends, competitors and others
- Help the team with customer support
- Support training and marketing activities, creating materials and taking on organizational tasks
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled at a university in the area of engineering, natural science or computer science
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Previous knowledge in the areas of fluid dynamics, machine learning, multibody dynamics, user interface design, heat transfer, reacting flows, simulation, micro controllers, electronics or battery.
- Knowledge in common programming languages like Python, C, Matlab
- Knowledge in simulation tools like GT-SUITE, Simulink, Dymola, AMESim
- Knowledge in simulation tools like Adams, StarCCM+, Fluent, Abacus, COMSOL
- Willingness to think outside the box, a broad field of interest and a self-sufficient and self-organizing working mindset

We are looking for a creative, talented and self-starting application engineer to join our Application Engineering and Support Group to help our customers get the most out of our software and to leverage the knowledge learned from these interactions to continuously improve our software.
Specifically, we are looking to add someone to our thermal fluids application engineering team. This team supports customers and designs software with applications in thermal and fluid systems, including thermal management, hydraulics, lubrication, and many others. Job Responsibilities
- Assist customers that use our software to design and analyze their systems, including many leading electric vehicle companies.
- Carry out proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate cutting edge software solutions to prospective customers.

- Interact with established and emerging companies through training classes, conferences, and marketing events.
- Help evangelize the critical role GT plays in helping automotive companies on the Road to Net Zero Emissions.

- MS or BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or similar)
