Gamma Technologies, Groupe PSA, and Ecole Centrale de Nantes Partner to Shorten Time-to-Market for Low-Emissions Vehicles

June 20, 2019

Gamma Technologies, Groupe PSA and Ecole Centrale de Nantes announce a partnership to optimize powertrain design processes and bring low-emission vehicles and shorten time-to-market by frontloading more and more simulation for development and testing.

By committing to an increase in predictiveness and faster model turnover times, this partnership empowers engineers to take advantage of the many benefits of digital design and testing. This includes shorter a development cycle, reduced costs, and physics-based simulations tools and structures that allow engineers to maintain high quality models and analysis.

To achieve this, engineers and experts at Groupe PSA and Centrale Nantes will execute studies using Gamma Technologies’ GT-SUITE, the multi-physics CAE system simulation software. The topics of interest will be engine models with a focus on engine calibration, as well as component modeling for batteries and e-motors with a focus on thermal-management.

Process optimization from test bed measurements to fully calibrated predictive models will also represent a prime target for this partnership. This includes digital modeling of petrol engines and associated powertrain and smart automatic calibration processes to shorten the validation phase.

“This partnership is in continuity with our engine performance modeling strategy for which we use GT-SUITE since many years. It will also help us to achieve the best state of the art in term of use and it will improve scientific modeling in a close collaboration between industry, academic and software company,” said Olivier Davodet, CAE Expert in Digital Techniques & Numerical Modeling at Groupe PSA.

The Research Partnership at Centrale Nantes is led by Dr. Alain Maiboom. “This partnership with Gamma Technologies will strengthen our ability to develop numerical models for the simulation of powertrains and ensure their diffusion towards industry.”
