This class is intended for users with previous experience or users who participate in this free-of-charge Introduction Training.

This course will be conducted online via web meeting.

To reserve your spot, you must have access to the following:

  • Computer with GT-SUITE v2020
  • Access to an active license
  • Good internet connection
  • Ideally two monitors/devices
    • one to follow the instructor on the web meeting (web browser only)
    • one to use GT-SUITE for interactive model building

This 2-day class will introduce the use of GT-SUITE software for modeling the distribution of heat within components of the electric powertrain, such as batteries and electric motors. Battery heat distribution models enable users to design and optimize the battery pack and its related cooling components such as cooling plates or fins. Furthermore those models can be used to integrate the thermal and electric domains to study system level effects and help design other components like the BMS. Electric motor heat distribution models allow the prediction of heat rejection to coolant and/or oil at any operating condition, and may be used to study concepts for temperature reduction in the motor as well as defining optimal strategies for the motor control. The class is targeted towards engineers with responsibility for e-components cooling or total vehicle energy management. This class will cover the process of building and calibrating e-components heat distribution models, beginning from CAD data. The process involves significant use of the 3D pre-processing tools of GT-SUITE (GEM3D and GT-SpaceClaim).

The following are the primary topics to be covered:

  • Conversion of CAD Data for battery pack and electric motor
  • Building up complete model in GEM3D (lumped thermal model and FE-components) and export to GT-ISE
  • Calibration of flow distribution & heat transfer
  • Integration of flow/thermal model into complete thermal management models
  • Link of thermal/flow model to electric circuits
  • Fee:
    • INR 15,000 for 2 day.
    • Registration will be waitlisted until payment is made.
    • Contact [email protected] for the quotation and payment.

Due to the limited room capacity, seats will be allocated preferentially to commercial customers.
