This course is intended for users who have been using GT-POWER for at least 6 months and want to learn some of the advanced features. The specific topics that will be covered are:

1. Optimization/Design of Experiments (DOE): The participant will learn how to use the direct optimizer built into GT-SUITE and the DOE tools that come with GT-SUITE. The participant will learn how the two differ and how to select between them depending upon the specific optimization task.
2. Heat Release Analysis: The participant will learn how to use the heat release analysis tool in GT-POWER. With it, a user can take a measured cylinder pressure profile, calculate the heat release rate of this combustion process and use this output to reproduce the same pressure profile in a model.
3. Controls: The participant will learn how to use the controls templates. The participant will learn how to build a control system that can achieve a desired target value, for example, control the flow of EGR from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold.
4. GT-POST: Advanced features will be demonstrated. Some of these advanced features are: reading data from Excel or ASCII text files into GT-POST, and building customized report tables. Other advanced features can be discussed.
5. Open forum: discussion of all topics relating to GT-POWER and GT-SUITE. Some topics that may be of interest are:
   a. Predictive combustion
   b. Coupling with GT-SUITE products such as GT-COOL, GT-DRIVE and GT-FUEL
   c. Controls modeling
   d. Transient simulation
   e. Predictive cylinder wall temperature model

Participants are asked to send to GTI ([email protected]) upon registration an e-mail listing the topics in item 5 that they want to discuss, including any that are of interest, but not on the list. This will give the instructor enough time to prepare course material and exercises (if needed) for the selected topics.
