Application Engineer: Vehicle Systems Integration

For our office in Prague, Czech Republic, Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is seeking an Application Engineer: Vehicle Systems Integration with a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a willingness to develop a long-term career with us.

Engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE is created, marketed, and sold by Gamma Technologies. All major automakers successfully use GT software for many years, and most of cars / vehicles around us include parts designed by GT. Our products support the development of environmentally friendly, cost-effective products by our clients in the automotive, aerospace, and marine sectors.

Position Summary

Gamma Technologies develops GT-SUITE, a sophisticated desktop software package for simulating almost any kind of engineering multi-physics system, such as those arising in the automotive, aerospace, and other industries, involving fluid, thermal, mechanical, electromagnetics, chemical and controls elements. It also utilizes a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors.

Specifically, you would join our vehicle simulation application team whose focus is on modeling of vehicle systems, for performance, fuel economy, energy management, and emissions. This is an opportunity to contribute to the automotive and other transportation industry and more specifically development of electrified powertrains by means of simulation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to develop solutions to assist customers in advancing their simulation capability and thereby reduce reliance on testing.
  • Assist customers in their use of our software to design and analyze electrified vehicles and subsystems.
  • Use customer feedback and interaction to design and test new product features related to complete vehicle modeling and its controls.
  • Proactively carry out proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate cutting edge software solutions to prospective customers in the area of vehicle electrification.
  • Research, Design, Prototype and Test various solutions that help improve vehicle modeling and controls capability.
  • Support and develop Energy & efficiency control optimization strategy (EMS)
  • Predictive EM & control including but not limited to Route Planning and Optimization
  • Electrified Powertrain Performance Simulation & Energy Analysis
  • Interact with established and emerging automotive companies through training classes, conferences, and marketing events.
  • Help evangelize the critical role Gamma Technologies plays in helping automotive companies on the Road to Zero Carbon.

Education, Experience and Skills

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • MS or BS degree in mechanical engineering (or similar)
  • 2+ years of professional and/or graduate-level experience in simulating complete vehicles or hybrid-electric powertrains.
  • Experience with 1-D simulation software such as GT-SUITE, AMESim, SimulationX, or other CAE/simulation tools.
  • Experience with powertrains and/or vehicles, including design, measurement and instrumentation, controls, SAE projects (FormulaSAE, BajaSAE, Future Car, etc.).
  • Knowledge of fuel economy and energy management test protocols would be a plus.
  • Willingness to travel in Europe and internationally.
