Intern – Mechanical Applications Engineer

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a Mechanical Applications Engineering Intern with a solid work ethic, excellent judgment, and a desire to build a long-term career with us.

Position Summary

We are looking for a creative, talented, and self-starting intern to temporarily join our Applications Group to work on special projects that utilize our software in new and innovative ways. Gamma Technologies develops GT-SUITE.  GT-SUITE is a sophisticated desktop software packages for simulating almost any kind of engineering multi-physics system, such as those arising in the automotive, aerospace, and other industries, involving fluid, thermal, mechanical, electromagnetics, chemical and controls elements. GT offers several multi-body dynamics simulation add-on packages for simulating 3D machinery, tribology, and vehicle dynamics. These tools also utilize sophisticated user interfaces, including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors.

Specifically, you would join our Mechanical Applications team focusing on mechanical system modeling of various powertrain, machinery, and vehicle topologies.

Qualifications:

  • Carry out proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate cutting-edge software solutions in mechanical dynamics simulation.
  • Assemble libraries of components, examples, and documentation to aid new users in machinery simulation in GT-SUITE
  • Perform validation and/or model correlation studies with experimental data

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or Doctorate (PhD) program in engineering, with a focus on mechanical, chemical, or energy engineering, or materials science.
  • Minimum 2 years completed in undergraduate studies
  • Basic exposure to machinery and multibody dynamics analysis

Other Requirements and Notes:

  • Applicant must be currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or energy) or materials science (or similar)
  • Minimum 2 years completed in undergraduate studies
  • Basic exposure to battery technology and ideally battery modeling techniques
  • The expected hourly range for this role is $28.00 – $42.00. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Hourly rates are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
  • The Intern will be required to work onsite at our corporate office in Westmont, Illinois five (5) days per week.
  • The selected candidate must be able to self-provide housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
