This class is intended for users with previous experience or users who participate in this free-of-charge Introduction Training.
This 1,5-day class will introduce the use of GT-SUITE software for modeling the distribution of heat within components of the electric powertrain, specifically electric motors.
Day 1 – Wednesday, 08th November, – 09:00 – 17:00
Day 2 – Thursday, 09th November – 09:00 – 13:00
Electric motor heat distribution models allow the prediction of heat rejection to coolant and/or oil at any operating condition and may be used to study concepts for temperature reduction in the motor as well as defining optimal strategies for the motor control. The class is targeted towards engineers with responsibility for e-components cooling or total vehicle energy management. This class will cover the process of building and calibrating e-components heat distribution models, beginning from CAD data. The process involves significant use of the 3D pre-processing tools of GT-SUITE (GEM3D and GT-SpaceClaim).
This course will be conducted online via web meeting.
To reserve your spot, you must have access to the following:
- Computer with GT-SUITE v2023
- Access to an active license
- Good internet connection
- Ideally two monitors/devices (although not required)
- one to follow the instructor on the web meeting (web browser only)
- one to use GT-SUITE for interactive model building
The following are the primary topics to be covered:
- Conversion of CAD Data for electric motor
- Building up complete model in GEM3D (FE-components) and export to GT-ISE
- Advanced treatment of winding anisotropy and spray cooling
- Steady state thermal analysis
- Switch to 1D lumped mass approach and model calibration for transient analysis
Due to the limited number of seats, priority will be given to commercial clients.
