This two day FREE seminar will focus on the wide variety of different aspects of EV, HEV, and PHEV modeling and analysis that can be accomplished in GT-SUITE. This seminar is applicable to a general audience with no previous HEV experience required. The focus of the seminar is to introduce the process of HEV model building and highlight how multiple HEV subsystems can be considered together in a complete energy management model. Computers will be provided to attendees at the training facility. Due to limited seating available for this seminar, only one student per university will be allowed to register. Additional students will be placed on the waiting list and allowed to attend pending available seats. The material covered in the seminar will introduce the following concepts:
Introductory Concepts of GT-SUITE:
- 1-D Mechanical Simulation

- Model Setup- initialization, parameter sweeps

- Post-processing (GT-POST)

- Subassemblies: internal, external, encryption of subassemblies

The following vehicle modeling topics will be included:
- Hybrid Electric Components
 – Battery and Power Electronics
 – Electric Motors
 – Energy Management Controls and Optimization
 – Auxiliary Electrical Systems
- Impact of Engine Start/Stop on Emissions and Aftertreatment Systems

- Electric Launch and Assist

- Regenerative Braking

- Battery and Electric Motor Cooling
