This course is designed for new users of GT-POWER and GT-SUITE. This course will focus on the simulation of internal combustion engines through the use of GT-POWER. It will cover the following topics:
   • Introductory concepts of GT-SUITE
   • 1-D simulation of flow in the intake and exhaust systems
   • Discretization of the intake and exhaust systems
   • Modeling of: valves, combustion, heat transfer and injection
   • Post-processing (GT-POST)

Each student will be provided with a computer. The course will include the construction of models and use of the software, which will enable the participants to use the software immediately and be ready to go.
   • Construction of a 4-cylinder engine model
   • Variations of the model that demonstrate possibilities such as parameter sweeps, transient simulations and optimization

The afternoon of the second day will be left open to discuss extra topics. The topics will selected by the participants. Some possible topics are:
   • Combustion & Heat Release Calculations
   • Turbochargers
   • Acoustic Analysis and Muffler Pre-processor
   • User routines
   • Controls & Simulink
   • CFD Coupling
   • SI Turbulent Flame Model & DI Jet Model

Please contact GTI to let us know which extra topics you want included.

Note that a 1-day GT-POWER Advanced class follows this class on June 13.

GTI reserves the right to limit the number of registrations at university discounted pricing to 2 members per Formula SAE or Formula student team. Additional members of a team may register at full price. If more than 2 members of a team want to attend at university pricing, please contact GTI and the additional members will be placed on a waiting list. If seats are still available a week before the class begins, the additional members may be allowed to register.
