***PLEASE NOTE THE DATES HAVE CHANGED FROM JAN. 8-9 to JAN. 9-10***

This course is intended only for members of Formula SAE teams who will use GT-POWER in the design of their engines for the FSAE competition. This course is designed for new users of GT-POWER and GT-SUITE. It will focus on the simulation of internal combustion engines through the use of GT-POWER. The following topics will be covered:
   • Introductory concepts of GT-SUITE
   • 1-D simulation of flow in the intake and exhaust systems
   • Discretization of the intake and exhaust systems
   • Modeling of: valves, combustion, heat transfer and injection
   • Post-processing (GT-POST)

The course will include the construction of models and use of the software, which will enable the participants to use the software immediately and be ready to go.
   • Construction of a 4-cylinder engine model
   • Variations of the model that demonstrate possibilities such as parameter sweeps, transient simulations and optimization

The afternoon of the second day will be left open to discuss extra topics. The topics will selected by the participants. Some possible topics are:
   • Acoustic Analysis and GEM (Muffler Pre-processor)
   • Engine Tuning
   • Model Calibration

Please let us know in advance if you want us to cover any of these or other topics. Please send these topics to Tom Wanat at [email protected].

Course Fee and Registration:

   • The course is free, but open only to members of FSAE teams that have licenses of GT-POWER. Up to 2 members of each team may attend. Please sign up using the e-mail address of your university account. Please contact GTI if your team does not have a license and wants to obtain one.
   • As Gamma Technologies does not have enough computers for all people, participants are expected to bring a laptop computer on which they can use the software. Please install the software in advance. Temporary licenses can be provided for the duration of the class, upon request.
   • Lunch will be provided by Gamma Technologies.
