This 1,5-day course is designed for users of GT-SUITE that are interested in modeling flow acoustics. This course will specifically focus on simulation of intake and exhaust systems, including resonators, airboxes, catalysts, and mufflers, but also NVH topics related to hydraulic applications can also be covered.
The course will include the construction of models and use of the software, which will enable the participants to use the software immediately. The following topics will be covered and examples will be provided:
- Building flow systems (ex. intake/exhaust)
- Modeling of: resonator, airbox, catalyst, muffler and other acoustic sensitive components such as flexible pipes and dampers.
- Using GEM3D to import CAD geometry or build a 3D model and convert it into a 1D model
- Modeling pressure losses
- Design Optimizations
- Acoustic analysis:
- Transmission loss
- Impedance and Transfer Functions calculations
- Order analysis, Eigen values and SPL predictions
- Making sound files from simulation (WAV format)
- Pass-by noise simulation and Linear acoustic analysis
If time permits at the end of the class, additional topics can be covered, including:
- Transient Noise Simulation
- Multiple Noise Source Modeling (ex. dual exhaust)
- Linear applications:
- Source characterization
- Transfer matrix
- Impedance, TL, transfer functions
- ‘Data-only’ Fast Acoustic Calculations
- Porous Intake Pipe Modeling
- Exhaust Aftertreatment
