Senior Engineer: Combustion Solver

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a Senior Engineer: Combustion Solver with a solid work ethic, excellent judgment, and a desire to build a long-term career with us. Gamma Technologies develops, markets, and sells engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE. GT-SUITE is used by over 600 companies including all leading OEMs around the world. GT-SUITE comprises a state-of-the-art systems simulation solver encompassing libraries of fluid dynamic, mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic sub-models plus a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors. Our software aids in the design and optimization of products in many industries, including Automotive, Agriculture, Off-Highway Vehicles, Aerospace, Power Generation, Marine and Rail, and Industrial Machinery. Position Summary

We are looking for a solver developer to join our combustion modeling group which actively develops mathematical models and simulation tools for engine simulation. These models are integrated into GT-SUITE software which is used by hundreds of companies in automotive and transportation industries

Job Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and test mathematical models of fluid and thermal systems in engine and powertrain systems involving equations governing thermodynamics, viscous and inviscid flow dynamics, heat transfer, thermo-physical properties of gases and liquids.
  • Perform combustion and emissions modeling involving pre-mixed and diffusion flames, turbulent flame propagation.  Perform laminar and turbulent flow analysis for internal combustion engines.
  • Develop advanced algorithms for thermos-physical properties calculation of gas phase reactive systems
  • Optimize existing code for high execution speed and low memory footprint.

Education and Experience

  • PhD in mechanical, chemical or aerospace engineering
  • GPA 3.7 / 4.0
  • Knowledge or experience with basic numerical methods
  • Experience in simulation of reactive systems
  • Modeling for control-oriented and real-time vehicle simulations desired
  • Advanced numerical methods involving ODE and DAE solvers desired

Technology Skills

  • Computer language and scripting proficiency (Fortran, C/C++, Python)
  • Computer simulation and modeling experience of physical systems
  • Technologies for computer code optimization desired
