Senior 3D Software Developer
Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a Senior 3D Software Developer with a solid work ethic, excellent judgment, and a desire to build a long-term career with us. You should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with outstanding analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you are able to work effectively with minimal oversight, while also functioning well in a team environment.
Gamma Technologies develops, markets, and sells engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE. With roots in the automotive industry, GT’s software is leveraged by nearly all the world’s leading automotive manufacturers. Our solutions help automotive companies build more fuel-efficient vehicles that get better gas mileage and reduce emissions without sacrificing vehicle performance. The move from traditional internal combustion engines (ICE) powered by gasoline or diesel fuel to electrified vehicles presents an enormous market opportunity for GT as our software allows Electrical Vehicle manufactures and their suppliers to design better vehicles. Regulatory agencies globally have mandated that vehicle manufacturers reduce harmful environmental emission output, or they will face significant financial penalties and GT helps our clients meet these mandates.
In addition to the automotive industry, GT serves the aerospace, HVAC and marine industries.
This position is based in Westmont, IL and will report directly to the Software Engineer Team Lead.
Position Summary
We are looking for a creative, talented and highly motivated software developer to join our 3D software development team. The task is to create innovative graphical solutions for engineers and to transform 3D CAD objects into mathematical engineering models of fluid flow and mechanical components.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and support complex desktop 3D graphics applications
- Design and implement new software components and feature enhancements
- Collaborate with application engineers on new requirements and application design
- Follow company software development processes and standards
- Study new technology and remain technically current
Education and Experience
- PhD in Computer Science or related fields with minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0
- Or, Bachelor’s degree with 3 years professional work experience
- Must possess a collaborative/team-oriented work approach
- Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skill
- Ability to work independently, as well as work collaboratively with colleagues
Technology Skills
- Programming experience with either Java or C++
- Experience with Java Swing or equivalent GUI technology
- Experience with 3D graphics libraries, either Open GL or DirectX
Additional Qualifications Desired
- Familiar with UML, Object-Oriented-Design (OOD), Design Patterns and large-scale software development
- Basic understanding of 3D math
- Basic knowledge of 3D technologies, including transformation, texture mapping, etc.
