Quality Assurance Engineer

GT develops, markets, and sells engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE. GT-SUITE is used by over 600 companies including all leading OEMs around the world. GT-SUITE comprises a state-of-the-art systems simulation solver encompassing libraries of fluid dynamic, mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic sub-models plus a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors. Our software aids in the design and optimization of products in many industries, including Automotive, Agriculture, Off-Highway Vehicles, Aerospace, Power Generation, Marine and Rail, and Industrial Machinery. Established in 1994, we are a growing and dynamic global company with headquarters based in Westmont, IL.

This position is based out of the subsidiary office located in Pune, India. The required working hours will be 3 pm to 11.59 pm IST to allow collaboration with global teams.

Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will work with the GT-SUITE development and product teams to deliver top-quality software to our users. Throughout the software development lifecycle, you will create, document, maintain, and perform manual tests to ensure minimal shipped defects and timely fixes due to ongoing development. When appropriate, managing automated tests will also ensure high-quality software, however, manual testing is expected to be the primary responsibility. Functional, integration, and acceptance testing will be a key part of the job. While your role will have a particular focus on the UI/UX aspects of our software, other parts of the software will also require attention.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure that released software meets desired high quality standards
  • Carry out regular full regression testing of the user-interface
  • Maintain user interface software tests to ensure full coverage of the software as features are updated
  • Solicit information from the development and product teams to add new tests as required by new developments made to the software
  • If issues are found in the software, log the items in Gamma’s development database and follow up with developers to test once fixed
  • Help determine when issues were introduced into the software
  • Periodically perform updates (such as updating screenshots) to GT-SUITE’s manuals, tutorials and example files so that all documentation is up-to-date
  • Potentially add automated tests where reasonable but expected to spend less than 5% of time for such activity

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology related field, such as Computer Science with GPA of 8.75/10 or higher
  • Minimum of 5 years of proficiency with Software Testing / QA methodology, process and deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience using Linux

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with scripting language(s)
  • Certification in software testing
  • Experience with test management systems
  • Experience with enterprise-level CAE applications like GT-SUITE
  • Experience with automated GUI testing systems, such as the use of open source or 3rd party tools (e.g. Cypress & Selenium)
