Project and Applications Engineer: Transmission and Driveline

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a Project and Applications Engineer: Transmission and Driveline with a solid work ethic, excellent judgment, and a desire to build a long-term career with us. Gamma Technologies develops, markets, and sells engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE. GT-SUITE is used by over 600 companies including all leading OEMs around the world. GT-SUITE comprises a state-of-the-art systems simulation solver encompassing libraries of fluid dynamic, mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic sub-models plus a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors. Our software aids in the design and optimization of products in many industries, including Automotive, Agriculture, Off-Highway Vehicles, Aerospace, Power Generation, Marine and Rail, and Industrial Machinery. Established in 1994, we are a growing and dynamic global company with headquarters based in Westmont, IL.

Position Summary

We are looking for a creative, talented and self-starting application engineer to join our Application Engineering and Support Group to help our customers get the most out of our software and to leverage the knowledge learned from these interactions to continuously improve our software. Gamma Technologies develops GT-SUITE, a sophisticated desktop software package for simulating almost any kind of engineering multi-physics system, such as those arising in the automotive, aerospace and other industries, involving fluid, thermal, mechanical, acoustics, electromagnetics, chemical and controls elements. It also utilizes a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors.

Specifically, we are looking to add someone to our transmission and driveline application and support team. This team supports customers working on new technologies for powertrains, including novel transmission and powertrain architectures. This position will focus on simulation of transmissions and drivelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist customers that use our software to design and analyze their systems
  • Carry out proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate the software’s capability to prospective customers
  • User customer feedback and interaction to design and test new product features
  • Teach training classes on the use of the software
  • Opportunity for travel, occasionally to Europe or Asia

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering (or similar) with minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0
  • New college graduates or experienced engineers are welcome
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Technology Skills

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of transmission and driveline components
  • Experience with design or analysis simulation software such as ANSYS, MSC Adams, AMESim, etc.
  • Experience with automotive applications including design, measurement, instrumentation, or controls, including SAE projects (Formula SAE, EcoCAR, EcoMarathon, etc.)
