Thermal Fluids Development Engineer

Who We Are

Gamma Technologies (GT), the global leader in multi-physics system simulation software, develops a suite of integrated solutions designed to guide and accelerate the engineering transformation of today’s products. Fusing advanced physics with AI algorithms, our platform, GT-SUITE, is used to simulate a broad range of systems from early-stage development to digital twin applications across multiple industries including transportation and mobility, marine, aerospace and defense, power and energy, data centers and HVACR.

At Gamma Technologies, our people are the driving force behind our success. We are looking for a Thermal Fluids Development Engineer who shares our passion for authentic innovation, trusted partnerships, bold decisions and a relentless focus on customer success.

What You Will Do

You would join the Thermal Fluids Development team, the people who write and maintain the solvers at the core of GT-SUITE. Your days are spent where math, physics and programming meet: making a stiff system converge, tracking down why a scheme loses energy, squeezing a model fast enough to run in real time, and then seeing your code run on real engines, vehicles, refrigeration systems and more. The solver is the product, and you would help build it.

  • Develop, implement, test and maintain solver code for a wide range of thermal fluid phenomena: pressure waves in engine intake and exhaust systems, coolant and cabin flow, phase change (refrigerant in a condenser, water condensing from humid air), hydraulic and pneumatic flow, turbomachinery, and 0D and 3D thermal structures
  • Design and improve numerical methods (discretization, time integration, linear and nonlinear solvers) that are accurate, fast and robust on models nobody has built yet
  • Push the same physics from detailed high-fidelity simulation down to real-time and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) applications, where the solver must meet its deadline on every time step
  • Work side by side with application engineers who bring real problems, real test data and real customers, and validate your models against physical reality
  • Extend the reach of the solver through co-simulation with 3rd party 3D CFD tools, general solver infrastructure and user routine support
  • Use modern tools, including AI coding assistants and machine learning, wherever they make you faster, while keeping math and physics in your own hands
  • Propose and prototype new ideas, such as a better scheme, a new model or a smarter way to solve, and carry them all the way into the product

What You Will Bring

We care most about depth in math, physics and programming, and about the curiosity to keep going deeper. CFD experience is a great fit, but it is not required.

  • MS or PhD in mechanical or chemical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computational science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong foundation in the physics of fluid flow and heat transfer, and in the mathematics behind it: conservation laws, differential equations, numerical analysis
  • Hands-on experience turning a mathematical model of a physical phenomenon into working, tested code, whether in industry, research or serious personal projects
  • Solid knowledge of numerical methods: finite volume, finite element or finite difference discretization, time integration, stability and accuracy, and solving nonlinear and linear systems
  • Proficiency in Fortran or C/C++
  • The ability to explain complex ideas clearly and to collaborate with application and development teams
  • The instinct to read the paper, derive the equations yourself, and find out why the residual stalls

Nice to have:

  • Experience with CFD or related solvers (compressible flow, pressure-velocity coupling such as SIMPLE, two-phase flow)
  • Experience with stiff systems, implicit methods or sparse linear algebra
  • High-performance computing: parallelism, vectorization, GPUs
  • Real-time or embedded simulation
  • Experience programming with LLM tools or applying machine learning to simulation

 What we Can Offer You

  • Dynamic and highly talented team of experts.
  • The opportunity to bring in your own ideas, implement them and make them accessible to a large customer base.
  • The opportunity to build a professional network in various branches of industry.
  • The primary work location will be our Prague, Czech Republic We’ve adopted a hybrid work policy asking employees to report to the office 3 days per work week.
  • An attractive salary and additional company benefits.
