Senior Engineer: Aftertreatment

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a Senior Engineer: Aftertreatment with a solid work ethic, excellent judgment, and a desire to build a long-term career with us. Gamma Technologies develops, markets, and sells engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE. GT-SUITE is used by over 600 companies including all leading OEMs around the world. GT-SUITE comprises a state-of-the-art systems simulation solver encompassing libraries of fluid dynamic, mechanical, thermal and electromagnetic sub-models plus a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors. Our software aids in the design and optimization of products in many industries, including Automotive, Agriculture, Off-Highway Vehicles, Aerospace, Power Generation, Marine and Rail, and Industrial Machinery. Established in 1994, we are a growing and dynamic global company with headquarters based in Westmont, IL.

Position Summary

We are looking for a solver developer to join our exhaust aftertreatment modeling group which actively develops mathematical models and simulation tools for the catalytic monolith reactors (TWC, DOC, SCR, ASC, DPF, etc.) used in the exhaust gas aftertreatment applications (automotive, power plants, etc.). Reactor models are integrated into GT-SUITE software which is used by hundreds of companies worldwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulate mathematical models for flow through catalysts and gasoline and diesel particulate filters
  • Optimize solution algorithms for surface and heterogenous reactions
  • Develop kinetics mechanism for advanced automotive catalysts
  • Develop analysis of exhaust aftertreatment reactors
  • Develop and maintain computer codes as needed
  • Stay up to date with the literature

Education and Experience

  • PhD in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Physical Chemistry
  • Candidate must possess strong background in applied mathematics or related field
  • GPA 3.6 / 4.0
  • Knowledge or experience with basic numerical methods
  • Experience in development of reactor and kinetics models desired
  • Knowledge or experience with advanced numerical methods desired
  • Experience with any of non-linear ODE solvers (e.g. ODEPACK, VODE, SUNDIALS) is desired

Technology Skills

  • Coding – Fortran, C or C++
