This class is intended for users with previous experience using GT-SUITE and GT-AutoLion or users who participate in this free-of-charge Introduction Training and the Introduction to AutoLion & Battery Modeling Training.

This 2-day class will introduce a calibration procedure to calibrate GT-AutoLion electrochemical models to experimental data without having performed a cell teardown.

This course will be conducted online via web meeting over the course of 2 half days.

To reserve your spot, you must have access to the following:

  • Computer with GT-SUITE v2023 (the training will be conducted with v2023, but if you only have v2022 that is acceptable)
  • Access to an active license
  • Good internet connection
  • Ideally two monitors/devices (although not required)
    • one to follow the instructor on the web meeting (web browser only)
    • one to use GT-SUITE for interactive model building

This course is targeted towards engineers who do not work at a cell supplier but are responsible for providing calibrated electrochemical models to other CAE departments and teams at their company.  These engineers typically do not have access to the design parameters of the cell, and the calibration procedure followed provides a framework for addressing this challenge.

This class will consist of a mix of presentations and interactive model building exercises.  The following are the primary topics to be covered:

  • Fundamentals of Lithium-ion Technology and Performance Modeling with GT-AutoLion: The fundamentals behind Lithium-ion operation, Li-ion electrode design, and electrochemical modeling of Lithium-ions will be taught and participants will gain experience in calibration techniques for calibrating electrochemical models without all the required cell design information.
  • Fundamentals of Lithium-ion Degradation and Aging Modeling with GT-AutoLion: The fundamentals behind mechanisms that cause Lithium-ion cells to degrade and GT-AutoLion’s approach to modeling Lithium-ion cell degradation will be introduced.
  • Optimization: The calibration procedure requires extensive use of GT’s design optimizer.  Users will learn how to effectively and efficiently utilize this powerful tool to match both performance and aging data.

*If you intend to participate in both trainings (Basic and Advanced Battery Modeling), please contact the instructor before registration. The regular fee will be $1300 and the university fee $700.

Due to the limited room capacity, seats will be allocated preferentially to commercial customers.
