Valvetrain Kinematics & Dynamics

GT-VTRAIN is a multi-purpose simulation tool for the mechanical design analysis of valvetrain systems. It has a well proven and validated track record and performs, in a single environment, the following valvetrain analysis functions:
 
Cam design
Valvetrain mechanism kinematics
Quasi-static rigid analysis, with all inertias plus valve springs; computes all forces, separation speeds
Valvetrain multi-body dynamics
Contact (e.g. cam-follower) tribology: Hertzian stress, deformation, oil film thickness, wear load
Valvetrain frictional forces and power loss
Camshaft torsional vibrations (time/freq. domain)
Camshaft bending dynamics
Camshaft bearing orbits, friction torques
Gear, chain and belt drive dynamics

GT-VTRAIN models can be run stand-alone, or together with coupled models of cranktrain (GT-CRANK) and of fuel injection (GT-FUEL).
