GT-SUITE - Most General and Fastest Fuel Injection Tool

GT-SUITE can be used to model all variants of fuel injection systems. This includes both the high and low pressure systems for diesel, gasoline, and other alternative fuel (E85, DME, LPG, etc.) applications.   Typical uses include general flow network modeling as well as detailed component modeling.   Examples of detailed components include predictive hydro-mechanical models of injectors, pressure control valves, and high pressure pumps.   Component modeling is facilitated by the flexible FMT (Fluid-Mechanical Template) technology, allowing modeling any injection component.   Users can also create their own library of components with the compound template feature provided.   Components from the electrical and magnetic libraries are available for detailed models of solenoid or piezo actuators.

The GT-SUITE flow solver provides a solution of the compressible 1-D Navier-Stokes equations (conservation of mass, momentum, and energy).   It models cavitation, aeration, and species transport everywhere in the system.   It is thus exceptionally adapted for applications to the future common rail systems with very accurate models at very high and low (cavitation) pressures.   Of particular importance is that it always solves the energy equation which gives it a key advantage.   Despite the level of detail that it offers, GT-SUITE at the same time provides the fastest solver on the market.   The speed advantage is particularly prominent in large multi-component system simulations.

A strong advantage of GT-SUITE is the integration of different sub-systems in a single model.   Among the examples of such GT-SUITE integration have been systems such as those below:

  • Detailed injectors can be integrated with the engine in the same model to capture the interaction between the systems.   GT-SUITE offers built-in predictive combustion models as well as the ability to link to KIVA (3D-CFD) for in-cylinder combustion
  • High pressure cam-driven pumps can be integrated with dynamic valvetrain components, including the effects of torsion and bending of the cam shaft, as well as hydro-dynamic solutions for cam bearings and at the interface between the cam lobe and follower.

GT-SUITE can also be used to model other hydraulic systems, such as valvetrain actuation, mobile hydraulics, braking, power steering, wet clutches, and general hydraulics applications.
